Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2025
1. Who we are
Roam London (“Roam”, “we”, “us”) is a travel companion web application that helps users plan journeys and access live Transport for London (TfL) data. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use roam-london.vercel.app.
2. Data we collect
Usage data. We collect anonymous analytics — pages visited, features used, and general geographic region (country level). This is never linked to any personal identity.
Search queries. Journey searches and AI chat messages are processed in real time to return results. We do not persistently store your search history or chat transcripts on our servers.
Location data. If you tap the location button in the AI chat, your browser shares your GPS coordinates with us momentarily to find nearby stops. We do not log or store your coordinates.
Cookies and local storage. We use browser local storage to remember your cookie consent preference and (in future) saved places. No tracking cookies are set without your consent.
3. How we use your data
We use data solely to provide and improve the Roam service: returning journey results, live TfL status, and AI-generated travel advice. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-party services
Transport for London (TfL). We query TfL’s Open Data API for live journey, arrival, and status data. TfL’s own privacy policy applies to data processed on their infrastructure.
Anthropic. AI chat responses are generated by Anthropic’s Claude API. Messages you send are processed by Anthropic subject to their privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Vercel. Roam is hosted on Vercel. Standard server logs (IP address, request time) may be retained by Vercel for security purposes per their data processing agreement.
5. Your rights
You have the right to request deletion of any personal data we hold, object to processing, or request a copy of your data. As we collect minimal personal data, most requests can be fulfilled immediately. Contact us at the address below.
6. Data retention
Anonymous analytics are retained for up to 12 months. No personal journey or chat data is retained beyond the duration of your session.
7. Cookies
Roam uses essential cookies for session management and local storage for preferences. Optional analytics cookies are only set if you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage for this site.
8. Children
Roam is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged with a new “last updated” date at the top. Continued use of Roam after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. Contact
For privacy enquiries please contact us via the AI chat on Roam or raise an issue on our GitHub repository at github.com/rh87uk/roam-london.
